Winter Wellness Challenge Day 4 – Get more sleep

Today’s challenge is to get an extra hour of sleep tonight. Studies show that not getting the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep can affect your health, mood, weight and even your sex life.

Sleep is essential for your health. It refreshes the mind and repairs the body. Without adequate sleep you may suffer increased fatigue, poor concentration and memory, mood disturbances, impaired judgement and reaction time, and poor physical coordination.

I wrote a blog post a few weeks back about the difference a good night’s sleep can make.

Day 4 - Get more sleepSo tonight your challenge is to go to bed an hour earlier. Switch off the TV and all of your technology (it isn’t going anywhere 🙂 ) and head to bed. If you are worried you won’t drop off to sleep straight away, try reading a book or magazine for a little while, or have a warm shower or bath just before bed.

Tomorrow you are likely to find you’re happier throughout the day, have more focus and energy for your work, more patient with your kids, and less stressed.

If you incorporate this challenge into your daily routine you are also like to experience improved memory, better weight control, better mood, lower risk of injury, clearer thinking, improved immunity, less pain, better health and apparently, a better sex life!

So – give it a go tonight, you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

Let me know tomorrow how you went with this challenge!
