Your challenge today is to make time for a healthy breakfast.
You’ve been told for years that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you know why? Breakfast breaks the overnight fasting period, restores your glycogen stores and boosts your energy levels, as well as your metabolism for the day.
In addition to this, eating a healthy breakfast has been linked to many health benefits, including weight control and improved performance. Studies also show that eating a healthy breakfast (not one that contains donuts or takeaway foods 🙂 ) can provide a more nutritionally complete diet, improved concentration and performance at work/school, increased strength and endurance for physical activities, and can lower cholesterol levels.
With all of these benefits, there is little reason to avoid breakfast, however it is often overlooked because we believe we don’t have enough time or are too tired to bother. If you completed last night’s challenge and got an extra hour of sleep, hopefully today you are feeling less tired and have more time today to enjoy a healthy breakfast.
If you are reading this and have already raced out the door with an empty stomach, it’s not too late. Try grabbing a nutritious snack, such as fresh fruit and low fat Greek yoghurt, or a wholegrain sandwich, to avoid snacking on less nutritious options and avoid mid-morning hunger.
Today’s challenge combined with yesterday’s challenge to get an extra hour of sleep, are a winning combination. Together they will set you up for a fantastic today full of energy to pursue the vision you created on day 1.
